Decorating With Antique Light Fixtures
I don’t think anyone would argue that vintage and antique light fixtures make a room special. Fortunately, I get to see some of these unique chandeliers and sconces (purchased at MERCATO of course) installed in customers homes. Here are some examples…
Here is one of my favorite Italian antique iron chandeliers we had at the store. I was so happy this antique chandelier ended up in this beautiful home.
Many Tuscan antique light fixtures are made of iron and the detail is wonderful. You can see the detailed work on this very large iron sconce. There were actually four of these placed on all of the walls of this room.
This Tuscan sconce is one of a pair. They look very Tuscan indeed on this interior stone wall of a customer’s home.
And some more lovely chandeliers….
This antique chandelier looks wonderful mounted in the groin vault ceiling.
We had three of these lantern iron fixtures which the customer had installed under this covered outside porch. You can only see the one light in the photo but you get a feel for how it looked, which was wonderful!
This very large Venetian lantern with stained glass looked fantastic installed. You can see it is very unique.
Here it is with the lights on and you can see the pretty colors of the stained glass.
All of the antique light fixtures we bring back from Italy from our antiquing trips have to be rewired of course.
Sometimes though, the customer doesn’t electrify them at all, they just use candles.
Here is another example of using candles in a unique fixture for lighting. This was actually made for candles but could be wired as well. Either way, it looks very interesting and unique. In the right hand corner of this picture you can see a lantern. It is one of two in the stairway and they look fantastic installed as well!
