Years ago, amphora shaped earthenware jars like this were used for wine, vinegar or water. Today, these antique glazed terracotta jars from Puglia, Italy make a unique decorative statement.
The wear, imperfections and history (seen in the gallery photos) are the qualities that make antique pottery unique and desirable. Please note that we have highlighted a hairline fracture on the neck of the jar that was reinforced at some point in time. The jar is still very sturdy and stable for shipping. You will sometimes notice repairs or hairline cracks on antique earthenware and these repairs and impections are what makes each piece unique.
