Original Antique Watercolor of a Palace Ceiling by Morandi. This is a beautifully executed, signed watercolor by Florentine artist Morando Morandi. Morandi's great skill in realist watercolor is demonstrated in this large painting. Shade and shadow give a sense of depth and variations of grey show a realistic view of this study of a carved panel from a ceiling in an Arabic Palace. This is newly framed using archival materials.
Morando Morandi was a student, and later a professor at the famed Florence Academy of Fine Arts. He worked with Professor Lunghi, one of the last artists in charge of finishing the facade of the Duomo in Florence.
