Italian Antique Glazed Puglia Jar - 20.5"H (SOLD)

This antique ochre amphora shaped glazed jar is a traditional piece of earthenware pottery from Puglia, Italy.  This kind of jar was once used to store water, vinegar and wine.  If you have ever traveled to Puglia you may have seen them. They are used decoratively now, outside as well as inside of homes.  The ochre color of these glazed antique pots look lovely against  the white trulli and the wonderful Massaria buildings of that region.
