When I think about the beautiful Italian antique terracotta in Tuscany, I always envision the large “orci” or olive oil pots which are my favorite. This antique one has a beautiful kiln stamp marked Michele Agresti, Impruneta and is dated 1905.
The Agresti family started making pots in the Impruneta area in the 17th century . They were one of the older and most respected potters of their time. Today, some of this family’s pottery is in a museum dedicated to the history of terracotta.
