This is a wonderful 17th Century Painted slate plaque depicting the Madonna and Child. The weathered patina indicates that it was most likely a Florentine street tabernacle which would have been commissioned by patrons of the city's prestigious palazzos. In more recent years, it was appreciated as a piece of religious artwork in a private Palazzo in Florence.
This Madonna and Child painted slate plaque is weathered as once would expect because of its age. The colors are gorgeous and the history and overall aesthetic is fantastic.
