Antique Copper Water Pot From Italy (SOLD)

This rustic antique copper pot has an interesting shape and story. The copper pot is from Italy and was used to transport water.   Groups of women would often gather in their town and fill  pots like this with water from the fountains.  They carried the pots on top on their heads once they were filled. Today, the pot makes a unique decorative item.  The patina on this antique copper pot is wonderful and the subtle etched detailing adds a little elegance to this utilitarian pot. There is a small crack in the pot as well as denting from years of use.  In other words, you wouldn't want to use it to transport water today!
