(SOLD) This silverplated ex voto of a foot is from Sardinia, Italy. The size of it is quite large (which you don’t often see) and the detailing with the ankle bone and toes is distinct. The backside is dated June 17th 1927.
An ex voto is a votive offering displayed in a church or shrine. You’ll often see them displayed in Catholic churches throughout Italy. An ex voto represents a prayer for healing, or gratitude for having been healed. Ex votos come in various forms, often body parts, which would represent what kind of ailment the prayers and miracles were for.
